Not less than 1,500,000 motorcycles with two and three wheels in circulation in Morocco, of which about 240,000 in the city of Marrakech, are responsible for a pollution overflow. To minimize the effects, EMOB, company of clean and durable solutions, has just officially started on the sidelines of the Formula E 2019 in Marrakech, precisely to bring solutions to the problem.
EMOB, a joint venture led by the local industrial operator IMPRERIUM HOLDING and Allianz SE, a world leader in insurance, aims to make Marrakech the most important African platform dedicated to the sustainable mobility industry. « We want to pave the way for a greener Morocco by building a powerful integrated, agile and fast ecosystem through local and international partnerships, » said Mohamed El Baroudi, CEO of EMOB.
As the first milestone in the realization of its ambition, EMOB introduces for the first time in Morocco a wide range of two and three-wheel electric vehicles of the brand YADEA, French specialist in the design of electric vehicles and subsidiary of the Chinese giant NORINCO. As such, a first order of 1,200 units has already been made to the manufacturer.
Extremely competitive prices – compared to combustion vehicles – are proposed to encourage the adoption of this new clean mode of transport.
In July 2019, the company plans to open the first showroom dedicated to the marketing of YADEA electric motorcycles in Morocco. Distribution partnerships are also planned with retailers throughout the Kingdom.
In parallel, EMOB will launch Fleet offers dedicated to individuals and public administrations.
EMOB has partnered with Medina Bike, the first official bike sharing system in Morocco to introduce motorcycles into the urban landscape of Marrakech and make them more accessible to the local population. This partnership provides for the establishment of an exclusive eco-friendly scooter rental network.
74 electric motorcycles will first be deployed from April 2019 on 15 stations at the points of high affluence, close to universities and shopping centers.
It should be noted that EMOB and the Marrakech-Safi Region signed a memorandum of understanding for the deployment of two electric wheels in the ocher city. The goal is to put more than 20,000 motorcycles into circulation within 2 to 3 years.
