The provincial tourism council of Ouarzazate, in collaboration with the Moroccan National Office of Tourism (ONMT) and the Ouarzazate communal council, organized, on February 16th and 17th 2019, a trip and workshop for 24 american travel agents.
In order to promote the destination of Ouarzazate, Royal Air Maroc, the Computerized Corporate Rate Association (CCRA) and the Wanderlust agency, member of the CCRA, joined forces to highlight the tourism potential of Ouarzazate through different visits to touristic sites.
In addition, a B2B workshop was held on the morning of February 17th which brought together many classified accommodation establishments in the province of Ouarzazate, in order to strengthen the positioning of the destination in the Luxury segment and develop the offers of the travel agencies adhering to this operation.
It should be noted that the US market is a very promising market for Morocco, knowing that 20% of the population travels abroad (ie 65 143 835 passengers), with $ 135.2 billion in expenditures (2017) and an average period of stay of more than 9 days.
As for the arrivals of americans in Morocco, they increased by + 16% between 2017 (297.401) and 2018 (until November: 345.530) and an evolution of + 97% between 2010 and 2018.
The city of Ouarzazate thus experienced a rise of + 47% between 2017 (12,826) and 2018 (at the end of November: 18,817) and an increase of + 185% between 2010 and 2018. The volume of overnight stays rose from 10,512 in 2010 to 18,770 in 2017 and 28,196 by the end of November 2018. The increase recorded is + 50% in 2018 compared to 2017 and + 168% in 2018 compared to 2010.
